Whether you’re considering Invisalign treatment for yourself or someone else, knowing more about the entire process can help you be more confident in your decision to choose the Invisalign System.
During your initial consultation, you and Dr. Wazio will discuss your concerns to determine if you or your child are a good candidate for Invisalign. Dr. Wazio will study your mouth and tell you if Invisalign is a treatment you should consider. If you are a candidate for Invisalign, you will discuss treatment protocol and estimated treatment length. Based on your individual treatment plan, a series of clear aligners will be created specifically for you. These aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic that won't irritate your cheeks and gums.
When your Invisalign trays are ready, it's time to return for your pick-up. Dr. Wazio may fit small attachments on your teeth to help the trays stay in place. These buttons are clear, almost invisible, painless to install, and temporary. After, Dr. Wazio will check to ensure your aligners fit, and with your trays fitted, and your aftercare program clearly explained, you are ready to go! You will begin wearing your aligners throughout the day and remove them when you eat or brush and floss your teeth. As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth gently and gradually begin to shift into place.
A series of Invisalign trays make up your entire treatment process. Unlike metal braces, you won't need to return for regular appointments with Invisalign. Instead, you can return periodically to check your progress.
Depending on the complexity of your case, you could complete your Invisalign treatment in as little as 6 months, but you will start seeing results in a matter of weeks. While every case is unique to each patient, Invisalign treatment typically takes approximately 6 to 18 months.
For best results and a timely outcome, you should wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day, throughout your entire treatment.
